I guess I’m completely smitten, because I thought his performance was great. The fact there was a French was just cake. That was the very first time I saw the Colombian in him, he was like a smoky Latin lover…Very sexy, very charming.

I don’t know what happened tonight?? Only a few contestants overcame the affliction. Perhaps a 2nd consecutive night of Beatles-related songs was over-kill, as Simon dutifully noted.

I adore Jason & this song was a perfect pick for him & he was charming & his lashes long but… he surprisingly didn’t execute well! Ohhhh…

I thought the arrangement of Michelle, ma belle was sped up & rushed & that Jason somehow didn’t connect with the song although he looked awfully cute up on that stage anyway. This selection should have been perfect for him… ?

I agree that Jason & Brooke are somewhat naked without their instruments, although Jason is waaay more engaging & seemed to be lovin’ the attention of the female lovelies in the mosh pit, lol!

What a lovely pic, Rickey! Thanks! I liked Jason’s performance. It was very sweet and innocent. I am looking forward to a complete CD that I can just mellow out to in the summer or while driving and trying not to get too stressed out with tailgaters.

He looks like the Olsen twins in that pic up there ^^ … is it just me?

The judges were right about him not connecting. He basically phoned it in and even rolled his eyes during the french part. It was like a kindergarten performance by a kid who doesn’t want people to think he likes girls. Weak. But he’s still charming.

I agree that it wasn’t his best performance but Jason is still ever so charming. Maybe tonight he should’ve played the guitar while singing it would’ve seemed more hearfelt.

I don’t think he looks like the Olsen Twins in the pic above but he does have such beautiful sparkling blue eyes.

Vocally, that was not good. He’s better than Brooke vocally, but they are very similar in their likability factor. Ironically, Simon named both of them on Oprah as possible winners of AI7.

I’m not a fan of his voice, or ever thought he was that “charming”. Tonight, though, he came off as a very like-able kinda of guy, in his intro and throughout the song. I’m still not a fan of his voice.

OH, and I’d suggest that if there were a vocal break in the song, don’t swing your arms around like you don’t know what to do for those 2 seconds..

Awwww… I liked the hand swing! I figured because he was singing something in French which he probably didn’t understand, he should do something theatrical and melodramatic– not unlike Seacrest’s intro. Not to mention he just seems like a humorous guy in general.

It was a little silly, but not any worse that Brooke’s much discussed “woo!” It might have looked stupid, but in an adorable way.

I know that David Archuleta is the best singer out of the bunch but Jason Castro is my favorite. He’s adorable sweet charming and seems like a very easy going nice guy. My sound isn’t working but as soon as it fixed I’m watching the performance from tonight and I can’t wait till next week to see what song Jason will sing on Idol.

Jason is adorable. He is who he is, all the time. He did seem as if he went into this performance with a ‘what the h*ll, I don’t get this song but I’ll make it fun’ attitude.

His vocals tonight? Didn’t wow me but he remains among my favorites. I think he’s got another chart-topper in him.

aprylette ~ I think the left-over theme week definitely brought everybody down. I’ve seen 8 performances and none of them were very inspiring, imo. Jason’s has been my fave, but it was an overall weak night.

That said, Jason’s voice is so refreshing! I will definitely buy his CD when it comes out!

it looked like he didn’t even want to sing that song , so it was probally picked for him by the producers i would have radther heard him sing yesterday and he probally would have radther sung that. to me hes one fo the top 3 singers in tearms of recording voice , and he has very current sounding voice that you could turn on the radio to kiss fm and hear a song by him.

It wasn’t his best, but it doesn’t change the fact that I love him & his voice & everything. The more I watch the performance, the more I enjoy it. He makes me smile. I love his reaction to all of the screaming girls, too. As gorgeous as he is, he doesn’t act it. He couldn’t be more down to earth. And for someone who hates interviews, he always has the most entertaining interview segments.

Why is it, I just can’t get this kid’s pieces off my head…. Lovely looking for sure, but I’d love his tunes on the radio as well. i just am not crazy about AI arrangements; they butchered Elliott’s MMFL back then, and they did it again with this piece…. Are they deaf? Why the rush? They should be ashamed that their studio versions S*U*C*K.

He’s my favorite of the ensemble this season. He’s funny, charming and I love his voice. This might not have been his best performance vocally but it oozed self-deprecating humor; strange thing, each time I watch it I like it more. He’s got some kind of magic.
