When her casting was initially announced, the nature of her role was kept under wraps by using a pseudonym. But many online figured the character of "Michelle" would be someone far more important than Marvel was leading on. It should be interesting to see what kind of chemistry she shares onscreen with Tom Holland, who really did a fantastic job in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. Changing Mary Jane Watson's race will likely be controversial for some, but I have an inherent trust of Marvel (less so with Sony, but Marvel is being given creative control for this movie anyway). If they cast her, they must have had a good reason. If anything, she probably had great chemistry with Holland. I'd hope so, anyway.
Spider-Man: Homecoming, from director Jon Watts and also starring Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr., will hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
