WWE Survivor Series 2016 Card Gets Some Major Additions

WWE Survivor Series 2016 is just eleven days away, and new matches are still being made, with stipulations that could carry some huge implications in the weeks to come.

As seen on last night’s Smackdown Live, we saw Breezango defeat The Vaudevillains to qualify as the final tag team in the 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match. In addition, Kalisto was announced as the next challenger for the Cruiserweight Title, with the stipulation that if Kalisto defeats Brian Kendrick, then the ENTIRE cruiserweight division moves to Smackdown Live! And yet, this wasn’t even the end of the big announcements for the night, as Baron Corbin was removed from Team Smackdown through an injury angle. His replacement? SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon!

So the updated Survivor Series card now looks like this:

Main Event
Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg

5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match
Team RAW (WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins and WWE United States Champion Roman Reigns) vs. Team Smackdown (WWE Champion AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt and Shane McMahon)

5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match
Team RAW (RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte, Bayley, Nia Jax, Alicia Fox and Sasha Banks) vs. Team SmackDown w/ Coach Natalya (Nikki Bella, Naomi, Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, Carmella, Alexa Bliss)

5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match
Team RAW (RAW Tag Team Champions The New Day, Sheamus & Cesaro, Enzo Amore & Big Cass, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, Primo & Epico) vs. Team SmackDdwn (Smackdown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno, The Hype Bros, American Alpha, The Usos, Breezango)

WWE Intercontinental Title Match
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Sami Zayn

WWE Cruiserweight Title Match
The Brian Kendrick (c) vs. Kalisto
If Kalisto wins, the cruiserweight division moves to Smackdown.

This is gradually shaping up to be a more solid card than it initially appeared to be. It makes sense that Kalisto’s victory might cause the entire division to move to Smackdown, since the upcoming Network-exclusive cruiserweight show, 205 Live, will be taped after Smackdown. So it’s only natural that Kalisto takes this one. Then again, you never really know with WWE, since you’d think we wouldn’t have gotten Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar again after the reaction they got fourteen years ago. But I’m remaining cautiously optimistic about this show possibly over-delivering, if for no other reason than that I’ve always been a bit of a mark for the Survivor Series.

But what do you think of the updated card? Sound off in the comments!
