WWE Star Mickie James Talks Being Around Ex John Cena Again

Mickie James has finally returned to WWE after being gone for seven years. However, she’s returned to the same brand has her ex, John Cena. This wouldn’t be a problem, except that the volatile end of their relationship has long been rumored to have been the cause of her release back in 2010. So how does Mickie feel about potentially being around Cena again?

In a recent appearance on the Lilian Garcia: Making Their Way to the Ring podcast, Mickie didn’t seem too worried about drama between herself, Cena or longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella potentially surfacing.

“We’re all adults, and you know obviously this business is what it is,” Mickie said. “We’ve all had our share of relationships failed. I think that being adults and being professionals…I would hope that, and I’m pretty sure that it’s going to be pretty awesome, because I’m sure that I’m going to have to work with Nikki in the ring and I know that we could do some really amazing stuff.”

However, Mickie did have words for former fiance Ken Doane, who currently wrestles on the Smackdown Live brand after returning to WWE last year as part of the Spirit Squad. It was Doane who “>leaked the sordid details of Mickie’s relationship with Cena, and its disastrous end.

“As far as that whole thing with Ken it was a shame that he went out and said the things that he did and did that, because I feel that a lot of it was a lie and it was mostly just kind of to help his book sales or whatever the case may be. But you know, it is what it is and you know, I’m a grown up.”

Naturally, Mickie is in a much different place in life right now than she left WWE the first time back in 2010. She’s currently married to Nick Aldis, the former TNA star Magnus, and together they have an infant son. Meanwhile, Cena is working a reduced schedule on the Smackdown brand alongside Bella. So both sides of the failed relationship have clearly moved on, to the point where interpersonal drama shouldn’t be an issue.

Well, at least not with Cena, anyway. I suppose the jury is still out on Ken Doane though. Either way, I’m glad Mickie is back, because she still has a lot to contribute as a star for the women’s division, particularly with Smackdown Live’s relatively sparse female roster. Here’s hoping she gets a chance to shine in her feud with Becky Lynch. If nothing else, the matches should be really good.
