WWE Smackdown Spoilers for 07/14/2016: The Final Taped Show Ever

Tonight’s WWE Smackdown spoilers are in, and it’s a momentous show. With next week’s premiere of Smackdown Live on Tuesdays, this stands as the final taped Smackdown ever. At least as far as weekly shows are concerned (they might still tape shows for holidays, for example). So what can we expect from tonight’s show?

In the main event, Seth Rollins teams with Kevin Owens to take on Sami Zayn and WWE champion Dean Ambrose, as we get nearer to the big triple threat match for the WWE title at Battleground. Also on tap: Sasha Banks battles Dana Brooke for a shot at WWE Women’s champion Charlotte, Dolph Ziggler goes one-on-one with United States champion Rusev in a non-title match, AJ Styles and Karl Anderson fight Enzo Amore and Big Cass, and Kalisto vs. Tyler Breeze. We also have a new installment of Miz TV with Intercontinental championship No. 1 contender Darren Young and WWE Hall of Famer Bob Backlund. -A series of interviews with Kevin Owens, Charlotte, and Dean Ambrose opened the show.

-Sasha Banks defeated Dana Brooke with the Bank Statement to become the No. 1 contender for the WWE Women’s Championship. After the match, WWE Women’s champion Charlotte attacked Banks and threw her onto the announce table.

-Dolph Ziggler defeated United States champion Rusev with a roll-up in a non-title match, after Zack Ryder distracted Rusev. After the match, Rusev had a meltdown at ringside, tossing furniture around.

-We saw a replay of the fight between The Wyatt Family and WWE Tag Team champions The New Day at the Wyatt Compound. It was then announced that The New Day would battle The Wyatts in a six-man tag match at Battleground.

-AJ Styles and Karl Anderson defeated Enzo Amore and Big Cass when Styles made Enzo tap to the Calf Crusher.

-Kalisto defeated Tyler Breeze with the Salida del Sol.

-Darren Young and Bob Backlund were the guests on Miz TV. They aired a career highlight video for Backlund. Miz then went to show a career highlight video for Young, only for a test pattern to show up onscreen, with The Miz implying that Young hasn’t accomplished anything in his career. Backlund stood up for Young, and Miz and Maryse ragged on Backlund for being old. Young defended Backlund and vowed to teach Miz a lesson at Battleground. The Miz backed off to bring the segment to an end.

-Due to an injured neck from Charlotte’s attack, it’s announced that Sasha Banks would not get her Women’s title match as promised. Instead, she’ll team with a mystery partner to take on Charlotte and Dana Brooke at Battleground.

-WWE champion Dean Ambrose defeated Kevin Owens by disqualification. The match was thrown out when Seth Rollins, who was at ringside, interfered. Sami Zayn came out to save, which led into our main event.

-Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens defeated WWE champion Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn when Rollins pinned Zayn with the Pedigree.
