WWE Raw and Smackdown General Managers for 2016 Revealed
WWE Monday Night Raw kicked off with a pretty big development, as the General Managers for Raw and Smackdown Live were revealed for 2016.
As we discovered in the opening segment, WWE Hall of Famer and hardcore legend Mick Foley was named the new General Manager for Monday Night Raw. Meanwhile, multi-time WWE champion and recent in-ring retiree Daniel Bryan was named the new General Manager for Smackdown Live. While Foley was a bit of a surprise, Bryan was expected from countless rumors and reports, including internal material from within WWE that accidentally leaked early. Still, this is a great role for Bryan, who still has a lot to give to the wrestling business, even though his in-ring career is over.
Ultimately, I’m interested to see how this all pans out, if one GM plays the heel while the other plays the babyface like in the initial draft, and if Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon overruled their GMs during tomorrow’s draft, since they have ultimate authority as commissioners of their respective brands. Not sure why we need more layers of authority on a product overrun with authority figures over the past 18 years, but I guess this is the only way they know how to tell stories.
But what do you think of the picks for Raw and Smackdown General Managers? Sound off in the comments!
