WWE NXT Spoilers For 01/18/2017: TakeOver Contract Signing
WWE NXT is back with an all-new episode tonight on the WWE Network, as we move closer to the huge TakeOver: San Antonio show. But what can we expect from tonight’s episode?
Well, after last week’s awesome match between DIY and The Revival, this week’s episode seems less focused on in-ring action and more centered on developing the storylines for TakeOver: San Antonio, which is now less than two weeks away. In addition to the contract signing for the main event between NXT champion Shinsuke Nakamura and No. 1 contender Bobby Roode, Tye Dillinger has an in-ring confrontation with SAnitY, and Roderick Strong addresses the comments made by Andrade “Cien” Almas.
But what else is on tap for tonight’s show? You can check out the full spoilers below via WrestlingInc.:
WWE NXT SPOILERS FOR 01/18/2017
-Nikki Cross defeated enhancement talent Kennadi Brink in a short match.
-Roderick Strong defeated Steve Cutler with the Sick Kick. After the match, interviewer Dasha Fuentes asks Strong about the threats made by Andrade “Cien” Almas last week. Strong responds that he doesn’t care about Almas, he only cares about the NXT title.
-Tye Dillinger comes out for a promo and admits he isn’t sure whether or not he even belongs here anymore. His promo is interrupted by SAnitY, as Eric Young offers him a spot in the group by presenting him Sawyer Fulton’s jacket. Dillinger refuses, but Young basically tells him this isn’t an option. A big brawl breaks out, with Dillinger getting the upper hand until Big Damo makes the save for SAnitY. In gratitude, Young offers Fulton’s jacket to Damo. He accepts and, together, SAnitY poses over Dillinger.
-Ember Moon defeated Liv Morgan with the Eclipse. After the match, the two women shake hands.
-In the main event, NXT General Manager William Regal introduces No. 1 contender Bobby Roode and NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura for the TakeOver: San Antonio contract signing. Roode tells Nakamura that he’s had plenty of offers to come to Japan to face him over the years, but he simply never felt Nakamura was worth the time. He says that the best thing Nakamura has going for him is his entrance music, adding that he’s not the King of Strong Style, because he has no style at all.
Nakamura responds by saying that he knew his and Roode’s paths would cross one day. However, he goes on to compare Roode to a Shiba Inu, which angers Roode to the point where he insults Japan, claiming that Nakamura is in the ring with the biggest star on the planet. Roode vows to silence the critics and become NXT champion, before signing the contract and declaring that when he wins, it will be “glorious”. However, before Roode can finish saying “glorious”, Nakamura puts his hand up and lets Roode know he isn’t leaving San Antonio with the title. In fact, he’s going to kick Roode’s head off, and THAT will be “glorious”. Nakamura then mocks Roode’s pose to end the show.
