WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka Dead at 73
Sad news in the world of professional wrestling, as WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka has died at age 73.
Snuka’s daughter, Sarona, who is better known as WWE superstar Tamina, confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a photo in which she holds her father’s hand on his deathbed. With the hashtags #FOREVERMYDAD, #RestWell, #FamiliesAreForever, #BestDad and #SnukaLegacy.
This come just months after Snuka was judged mentally incompetent to stand trial for the manslaughter killing of his then-girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, in May 1983. Just two weeks ago, a Pennsylvania court dropped all charges against the WWE Hall of Famer. While many still believed, at the time, that he was in some way responsible for Argentino’s death, his dementia, exacerbated by his ongoing battle with stomach cancer, essentially rendered him incapable of standing trial.
It’s unknown if WWE will acknowledge his passing onscreen on tomorrow night’s RAW, considering the controversy surrounding him. Guys who’ve had far fewer public issues than Snuka have been denied an onscreen tribute. I suppose we’ll find out tomorrow. But for now, our condolences go out to Snuka’s family and loved ones.
