WWE Fires Joey Styles After Facebook Q&A Gone Wrong

WWE isn't messing around when it comes to talents speaking out publicly against the company: former ECW announcer and digital media vice president Joey Styles has been fired by WWE after a Facebook Live Q&A gone wrong.

Styles released his last tweet on July 29th, just days after taking part in a Facebook Q&A in which he openly criticized WWE for continuing to push Roman Reigns despite fans rejecting him, with the explanation centering on what WWE chairman Vince McMahon thinks is right.

"Bottom line is, if our chairman thinks he sees a future star as a babyface, that's how things are gonna play out," Styles stated in the interview. "But the answer is Vince thinks it can work. He's been right much, much, much, much, much more than wrong over the course of the last 40 years. I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna second-guess the chairman."

Styles would also criticize the company for its silly rule against using the word "belt", how much he hated the term "Divas", and how clunky the name for the WWE Universal championship is. The Q&A was taken down from Facebook shortly after being posted, so that should give some indication of how quickly WWE nipped this in the bud.

And, really, Styles ought to have known better. Hell, he even joked in the Q&A about how this was probably going to get him fired, yet her carried on anyway. For a guy who's been with the company for 11 years, and who's been VP of Digital Media Content for eight of them, Styles should know that things you say online have a funny way of sticking around, even after they get deleted.
