WWE Chairman Vince McMahon Suffers Injury, Requires Surgery
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon works out regularly. But at the age of 71, injuries are bound to happen. And, sure enough, one occurred just this week.
WWE made the announcement official in a press release, declaring that McMahon was injured while training. The nature of the injury wasn’t specified, but the release revealed that the Chairman will require surgery. But it must not be all that serious, considering pro wrestling’s all-time workaholic is expected to be back at the WWE Headquarters tomorrow. From the release:
WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon sustained an injury while training, requiring surgery, WWE.com has learned. The Chairman will be back in the office at WWE Headquarters on Wednesday, as usual.
Naturally, the only thing more well-documented than McMahon’s commitment to work is his insane workout regimen, as we got an in-depth look during the build-up to Wrestlemania 26 and his match against Bret “The Hitman” Hart. Vince was in his early 60s at the time of this video, which should give you some idea of just how hard he goes, and just what level of fitness he intends to maintain even as he gets older.
Here’s hoping Vince gets well soon. Sure, he can be out of touch in terms of what does and doesn’t work in today’s wrestling landscape, and I know there are plenty of people who’d rather Triple H just took over sooner rather than later. But Vince is never going to retire. He’d probably rather die at his post than give up the reins to his company, and that kind of commitment can’t really be derailed by a training injury.
Still, maybe go a little easier on yourself, Vince?
