Women’s Champion Becky Lynch Pulled From WWE No Mercy

Bad news for WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch: her scheduled title defense against Alexa Bliss is off the card for tonight’s No Mercy event, as Lynch has suffered a potentially serious injury.

Sources close to the situation claim that that Lynch has been “working through” a neck injury for several weeks now, with Pro Wrestling Sheet reporter James McKenna adding that Lynch is likely to miss the rest of the month due to this injury.

Naturally, WWE could still have Lynch appear on the show in an angle to explain away her injury, such as like what they did with Randy Orton at Backlash last month. But I suppose that depends on how long Lynch will be out. If it’s just going to be a few weeks like Orton, then a quick angle probably couldn’t hurt. But if Lynch is due to be out longer, I could see WWE having her vacate the title tonight. The problem, of course, is that Smackdown Live doesn’t really have roster depth in its women’s division, since there are only about five or six other women on the show. This could be a terrible situation for Smackdown Live.
