VIDEO: ‘Game of Thrones’ Actors React to the Purple Wedding
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THIS PAST SUNDAY’S EPISODE, “THE LION AND THE ROSE”!
Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones provided one of the most gleefully shocking moments on TV so far this year, if not many years, as we finally came to The Purple Wedding. This iconic moment is so named for the ugly shade of purple that colors the face of King Joffrey Baratheon as he slowly succumbs to poisoning at his own wedding to Margaery Tyrell. Since Game of Thrones is a show with a MASSIVE cast, not everyone was involved with the filming of the scene. And since the cast is comprised of many actors who haven’t actually read George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, some of the stars found out about Joffrey’s death along with the rest of the audience. So how did the other actors not involved with the scene react to the events of the Purple Wedding?
Sky TV in Britain got to the bottom of the mystery by checking in with actors Rory McCann (The Hound), Liam Cunningham (Davos), Maisie Williams (Arya) and Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger), who have an amusing range of reactions. Although none more interesting than Aimee Richardson, who plays Myrcella Baratheon (Joffrey’s younger sister, who hasn’t been seen since getting shipped off to Dorne in Season 2). Richardson posted her response on Vine, and it’s not the most sisterly reaction in the world. But it’s kind of fantastic, just the same. Watch the Sky TV segment as well as Richardson’s Vine below:
