Usher Delivers Energetic Cover of ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ (VIDEO)
Usher is back with a new movie, Hands of Stone, and some new music on the film’s soundtrack. However, he’s tackling one of the biggest songs on the charts today in a smooth, soulful, energetic cover of “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Chainsmokers featuring Daya in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.
This is exactly as good as you’d think it would be. Usher did a great job of making this sound like his song, despite not having changed the tempo of the song all that much. I dug the arrangement with the brass and the explosive percussion. This was just a really cool performance, and that falsetto remains an absolute killer. Granted, he has some trouble with the lyrics, which leads to the physical performance feeling less engaging than it probably should feel. But I’m hardly one to talk, considering I botch lyrics at every open mic night. I still really liked the vocal. Hell, I’m already on my third listen as I write this. Watch the video below:
