UFC Star Josh Samman In Coma, Police Release Statement
UFC star Josh Samman is in a coma after being found unresponsive in his Florida home on Thursday. He was found alongside a friend, identified as Florida MMA announced Troy Kirkingburg, who was declared dead at the scene. The news was confirmed in a statement by the Police Department of Hollywood, Florida.
When he was found, Samman was still breathing and had a pulse, but was not responding. Police had been called to the scene of “a possible drug overdose,” the statement reads. Both men were found by mutual friend Hunter Sundberg, who attempted to administer CPR until police could arrive. While there were no signs of foul play, police are investigating the incident.
But for now, 28-year-old Samman remains in a coma. The fighter had originally been scheduled to square off against Oluwale Bamgbose at UFC Fight Night 102 on December 9, but that is, sadly, off the table now.
Samman is in our thoughts, and we hope for a full recovery. It’s a sad situation, all-around.
