UFC Fighter Josh Samman Dead at 28
Sad news in the MMA world today as UFC fighter Josh Samman has died at age 28.
The Ultimate Fighter alum had been in a coma since last week, when he was found unresponsive in his Florida home alongside close friend and MMA ring announcer Troy Kirkingburg, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Although no official cause was confirmed, it is suspected that this was the result of a heroin overdose. However, Samman’s mother pushed back against the rumors, stating that no heroin had been found in her son’s system.
Samman was a semifinalist on the 17th season of The Ultimate Fighter as a middleweight, and although he would lose to future UFC welterweight Kelvin Gastelum, Samman would be signed by UFC, where he would go on to a 3-2 record in the company, and an 11-4 MMA record overall. Prior to his death, Samman had been scheduled to fight Oluwale Bamgbose at UFC Fight Night 102 on December 9.
Our condolences and thoughts go out to Samman’s family and friends during this difficult time.
