UFC Champ Amanda Nunes: ‘I’m 100-Percent That I’m Going to Beat Ronda Rousey’

UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes will be fighting against the returning Ronda Rousey at UFC 207 on December 30. And, in preparation for the long-awaited fight, Nunes has a message for her opponent.

In an interview with TMZ, Nunes thanked Rousey for giving her the opportunity, while also warning her opponent to be prepared for the fight of her life.

“My message to her is to say thank you, this fight’s going to change my life, my career and I hope she’s ready. I know she’s a very tough opponent, but I’m the best in the world.”

However, Nunes also stood up for Rousey against claims from fighters such as Cris Cyborg and Julianna Pena that she doesn’t deserve the title shot.

“She only has one loss and all the UFC champions had rematches right away. I think Ronda Rousey, I think everybody wants to see (this fight) and Ronda Rousey deserves this fight again,” Nunes said.

But Nunes isn’t going to mince words when it comes to what she has planned for Rousey.

“I know how I’m going to beat Ronda Rousey. I’ve been training for Ronda Rousey since my first fight in the UFC,” Nunes said. “I don’t know if you know, but I come from the same background as Ronda Rousey. I’ve been training judo my whole career, since I started jiu-jitsu. I understand everything Ronda Rousey’s going to bring that day. I don’t think she’s going to be able to deal with my striking.”

Nunes would go on to proudly declare, “I’m stronger than ever. I’m 100-percent that I’m going to beat Ronda Rousey — I’m 200-percent.”

That confidence and swagger adds to the intrigue behind this fight, because we have Rousey returning to face someone who is supremely confident, similar to how Rousey was during her dominant run as UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion. Should be an interesting fight, if nothing else.
