UFC Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm Prepares for UFC 196 (VIDEO)
With UFC 196 just days away, it’s crunch time for UFC Bantamweight champion Holly Holm, who will make her first title defense since knocking out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193. Her fight with Meisha Tate is among the most anticipated for this Saturday night’s card, and Holm is training to deliver a successful defense.
Holm was shadowed by Jon Wertheim and 60 Minutes Sports in New Mexico this past week in order to gain insight into who Holly Holm is, how she took the world by storm, and what kind of training and preparation she’s doing to get ready for her fight against Tate. “People don’t necessarily know too much about Holly,” says Wertheim. “They hear that she was a boxer, but many don’t realize that she was more than that – she was a world champion boxer. So, how did she do it? This was a way to introduce Holly comprehensively, and it was also a cool way to fold in her team and all the other fighters and characters.” It’s a wonderful, insightful segment, and definitely worth checking out if you’re having trouble keeping your hype in check for the big fight this weekend. UFC 196 airs live on Saturday, March 5, with Holm defending her Bantamweight title against Tate, and Conor McGregor doing battle with Nate Diaz in the main event. It should be a solid show.
