Torrance Coombs Leaving ‘Reign’ After Season 3
Reign is losing yet another series regular this season: Torrance Coombs, who’s played Sebastian “Bash” Valois since the show’s premiere in 2013, will be leaving the show at the end of Season 3.
Apparently, Coombs has been cast in ABC’s upcoming Romeo & Juliet pilot, Still Star-Crossed, based on the 2013 Melinda Taub novel. The series will focus on the Montagues and Capulets in the aftermath of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. Coombs will play the main villain role of Count Paris, the man to whom Juliet was initially engaged before meeting Romeo.
As far as his exit from Reign is concerned, Coombs didn’t spill any details after announcing his departure, although he left open the possibility for a return down the road:
Thank you for all the kind words. Tough to comment on specifics, but I don't think we've seen the last of Bash on #Reign.

While I’ve fallen way behind on Reign this season, Bash had always been my favorite character on the show, and Coombs among the finest actors in the ensemble. It’s a shame that the show is losing so many regulars, between Coombs, Toby Regbo and Caitlin Stasey. Still, there’s hope for the show being renewed for a fourth season, so fans really shouldn’t give up just yet. If anything, the historical nature of this series makes this the perfect show for frequent cast changes, as we cycle through various, romanticized, fictionalized eras in the life of Mary, Queen of Scots. If noting else, it makes for a different kind of period piece. As for Coombs, I wish him the best of luck on his new series. He’s a hell of a talent, and I’ve loved his work since he was the roguish troublemaker Thomas Culpepper on The Tudors. The premise for his new series sounds pretty cool, and I’m interested to see where it goes.
