‘Top Gear’ Host Jeremy Clarkson Goes on Profanity-Laced Rant After Suspension (VIDEO)
Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson is catching hell from BBC over an incident a few weeks back, in which he got into a fight with a producer over his dinner being cold. Of course, it seems less likely that the dinner itself was the problem, but rather that the cold food was the straw that broke the camel’s back after a long day of filming. A fight apparently broke out, with Clarkson punching the producer in question. As a result, Clarkson was suspended, and he seems to believe he’s en route to being fired.
And so, because of his likely status as a free agent pretty soon, Clarkson has gone off on the BBC in a fairly subdued, but still profanity-laced, rant. The video occurs at a charity event where Clarkson is auctioning off a lap around the iconic Top Gear track for £100,000. In the clip, he calls his bosses “f***ing bastards” and says that Top Gear “was a great show, and they f***ed it up.” It then becomes a sort of whimsical reflection on what Top Gear meant to him. “I didn’t foresee my sacking but I would like to do one last lap. So I’ll go down to Surrey and I’ll do one last lap of that track before the f***ing bastards sack me. … I’ll be a bit tearful when I do it, but f*** it, let’s do it.” That said, I’m not entirely sure Clarkson will be fired anyway, if only because of all the attention this is getting from diehard Top Gear fans. Hell, The Stig is delivering the petition to reinstate Clarkson to the BBC himself, and he’s doing it in a freaking tank.
You can listen to the entire audio clip below. It’s only 18 seconds, but if you’re sensitive about language, be forewarned, it ain’t pretty:
