‘Top Chef’ Winner Paul Qui Arrested for Domestic Abuse (MUGSHOT)
Paul Qui, the restaurateur and winner of Top Chef Season 9 has been arrested on domestic abuse charges.
Over the weekend he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend before forcibly detaining both her and her young son in his apartment.
According to local police reports, what officers discovered after responding to a call from Qui’s friend is disturbing.
When Qui, 31, opened the door, officers noted he had “blood all over his face, arms, legs and clothing.” Officers noticed the woman inside the apartment was crying and clutching a small child, according to the affidavit. Officers reported the apartment was in disarray with furniture and glass broken—blood was also found smeared on the walls and the floor of the apartment, according to the affidavit.
Qui has already dismissed the reports, referring to the incident in a statement as “an argument with [his] girlfriend that had escalated beyond [his] control.”
His girlfriend reports that a drunk Qui threw her against the walls and around the rooms of the apartment after becoming jealous and accusing his friends of flirting with her.
The chef — who plans to check into rehab — faces two misdemeanor charges.
