TLC Is Crowdfunding Their Final Album on Kickstarter (VIDEO)
It has been 13 long years since TLC‘s most recent album, 2002’s 3D. But the group is looking to give a comeback one last shot, and they need your help to do it.
TLC and its two remaining members, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, are asking for $150,000 via Kickstarter to fund an in-studio writing session for their final album, with any remaining money going toward producers and recording.
“We just want to put out great music that touches everyone,” their Kickstarter page reads. “That’s it.”
“It is ESSENTIAL that we create our final album completely on our own terms,” the group goes on to add, “without any restrictions, with YOU.”
Naturally, because this is Kickstarter, there are reward incentives. At the low range, there are behind the scenes updates on the album with at least a $5 donation, while fans who offer up to $5,000 will get to partake in a sleepover with either T-Boz or Chilli. What that entails is beyond me, but the fans already seem compelled to donate already, as the campaign is close to halfway toward its goal. As of press time, $62,726 of the $150,000 goal has been pledged from 581 backers. There are 30 days left for the campaign to meet its goal, as fans have until Feb. 19 to contribute.
