Tim McGraw to Perform Glen Campbell Song at the Oscars 2015
Earlier today, Rita Ora was announced as a performer for the 87th Academy Awards. In that thread, I found myself wondering whom the Academy would hire to perform Glen Campbell’s nominated song at the Oscar telecast, since Campbell was forced to retire due to advanced Alzheimer’s disease.
Now, we know that the Academy was enlisted one of the biggest stars in country music.
Tim McGraw will perform “I’m Not Gonna Miss You,” the Best Original Song nominee from the documentary, Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me, on behalf of his friend Campbell.
Hello @theacademy calling…Would you sing I’m not gonna miss you for Glen Campbell on #theOscars? …Hell yeah. I love @GlenCampbell!

“We couldn’t think of anyone better than Tim McGraw to properly celebrate Oscar nominee, Glen Campbell. Tim is the consummate country artist and will bring a bit of Nashville to the Oscars stage,” said show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a statement.
“I’m honored to be asked to sing this powerful song from one of the true legends of the music industry,” added McGraw.
I think McGraw is a solid choice, and it should make for one of the more emotional moments of the Oscars 2015. You can listen to “I’m Not Gonna Miss You,” as well as the other four Best Original Song nominees, by clicking HERE.
And check out the 87th Academy Awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, when the ceremony airs live February 22nd on ABC.
