The X Factor UK 2015 Results: Which Over 25s Survived the Six-Chair Challenge? (VIDEO)
The X Factor UK 2015 is closer to live shows than ever before, with the Six-Chair Challenge coming to an end this week, and the Judges’ Houses performances beginning next Saturday.
But before we can get to the dramatic final round before the live show reveal, we need to find out which acts will complete the Top 24. Simon Cowell was the last judge to go through his category, and it was a painful process, considering 1) this was not a category he even wanted, and he did a very poor job of hiding it tonight, and 2) a lot of heartbreaking decisions were made. I bet if you’d told Simon when this started that he’d give Zen Blythe (a contestant he HATED) a chair, while denying one to Neneth Lyons (a contestant he ADORED), he’d have thought you were crazy. Yet here we are.
To make matters more stress-inducing, a couple contestants had to go through being swapped out, only to be brought back by the crowd. Vicki-Ann Nash and Tonatha Raihan got the short end of the stick, with both actually getting eliminated twice, as Simon cut them again after bringing them both back. This is without even getting into how gutted Joseph McCaul was to lose his seat, storming off and not even allowing Olly Murs or Caroline Flack to speak with him. That said, not everyone who lost a seat ended up losing their chance in the competition, as Simon brought back one eliminated male at the end of the Six-Chair Challenge, a decision that pleasantly surprised the audience. It was perhaps the most dramatic Six-Chair Challenge episodes this season.
So which Over 25s survived the Six-Chair Challenge and advanced to Judges’ Houses? Get the full results (and watch the performance videos!) below:
THE X FACTOR 2015 SIX-CHAIR CHALLENGE RESULTS: OVER 25s (MENTORED BY SIMON COWELL)
MAX STONE (ELIMINATED BY SIMON, BUT BROUGHT BACK AT THE END AND GIVEN A CHAIR)
Eliminated: Holly Johnson, Stephanie McCourt, Joseph McCaul, Tonatha Raihan, Vicki-Ann Nash, Alex Boye, Neneth Lyons, Zen Blythe, Hannah Marie Kilminster
Thoughts: The other judges thought Simon was crazy to eliminate Zen, and while I don’t necessarily agree from a vocal standpoint, I do think he ended up cutting the one male in his category with real star quality. I liked Max Stone a lot, but I don’t know that he’ll necessarily go far, so when Simon decided to bring him back at the very end of the Six-Chair Challenge, I found it kind of puzzling. That said, Max DOES have a crazy voice, and I think he’s someone with a lot of potential to grow, so I’ve come to sort of understand the decision. I mean, the crowd was going crazy for the guy, after all. And that’s worth factoring into your decision, if you’re Simon. Ultimately, I’m glad that Simon let his Overs know that while he was initially upset to get this category, he’s actually thrilled with his final six. I feel it was important for him to establish that, despite his initial reservations, this is a good group. Because it is. Granted, I don’t buy for a second that he has the winner, but he’s got a solid group of finalists, just the same.
