The X Factor UK 2015 Results: Which Girls Survived the Six-Chair Challenge? (VIDEO)

The X Factor UK is back with the Six-Chair Challenge, the most heartwrenching part of the competition yet, and the one stage of The X Factor each year that seems to receive viewer complaints, with arguments ranging from “it’s too cruel” to “no, seriously, this is insanely cruel!” I suppose you could make the argument for why Simon Cowell should do away with the Six-Chair Challenge, but if I’m being honest, this is one of my favorite parts of the season. It’s amazing drama, and it’s reinvigorated The X Factor considerably.

Case in point, tonight’s episode was the most dramatic of this season yet, as we learned the result of the Twitter fan vote in which viewers would get to pick which judge mentored each category: Cheryl Fernandez-Versini got the Groups, Nick Grimshaw got the Boys, an enraged Simon Cowell once again landed the Over 25s, and Rita Ora got the Girls, much to Simon’s further anger. Rita would go on to fill her seats pretty quickly, resulting in a huge dilemma when the time came to swap out singers. There were some HUGE shockers here, but really, I think Rita ended up with an AMAZING six. I’ll be shocked if any of the other judges end up making choices anywhere near as strong as Rita did here. Each and every one of them is a potential live show act, and at least two of them could win this entire show. I can’t wait to see what they do at Judges’ Houses.

But which six girls survived the Six-Chair Challenge? Get the full results (and watch the performance videos!) below:

Eliminated: Caitlyn Vanbeck, Chloe Baker, Charlie Beard, Jasmine Leigh Morris, Karen Mav, Katie Coleman, Kelly Mai Webb, Lucy Duffield, Sharon Rose and Sophie Plumb.

Thoughts: This was kind of a strange episode, in that some people surprised me by getting chairs I didn’t think they’d get, going in (Havva was probably the most delightful surprise of the night. I love her!), while others dropped the ball completely (Katie Coleman). Others did well, but not well enough to keep from losing their seats (Charli Beard, Chloe Baker), while some did an amazing job and STILL lost their chairs (few eliminations were more heartbreaking to watch onscreen than Karen Mav’s). It was a wild hour of television, particularly with Simon getting as angry as he did at the start, once he learned that the fans had chosen him to mentor the Overs. “I’m really pissed off right now!” he declared after learning the results, and — well, I have no idea why, considering he WON with this category last year. Sure, there aren’t any Ben Haenows or Fleur Easts in this category like last season, but there are certainly acts he can mold into something special. Still, I think he’s mad because he knows that while he could probably do well with this category, he doesn’t have the winner. Although, to be fair, I don’t think Cheryl has the winner either. For me, this will be between Rita’s Girls and Nick’s Boys — provided Nick picks the right boys. I suppose we’ll see soon enough.
