The X Factor UK 2015 Results: Final 12 Revealed for Live Shows (VIDEO)
The X Factor UK is completing the live Judges’ Houses by revealing the final 12 acts who’ve made it through to live shows, with each categories’ respective judges making their decisions on the spot.
Last night, Simon Cowell chose his three Over 25s while Cheryl Fernandez-Versini picked her three groups. Tonight, it’s up to Nick Grimshaw to pick his top three boys, and Rita Ora to pick her top three girls. But that’s easier said than done, considering Nick and Rita have the two strongest categories (in my opinion, although I really can’t see the argument for how the Groups or the Overs are stronger, overall, than the Boys and the Girls this year. There’s just an embarrassment of riches on both sides).
So which acts did the judges pick? Who’s going to the live shows? Find out the results below:
First up was Simon and the Over 25s. The three acts Simon is taking with him to live shows are…
Eliminated: Ebru Ellis, Kerrie-Anne Phillips, Jennifer Phillips
Thoughts: Bit of a shocker here, as I thought Jennifer Phillips would be a lock, considering she was one of Simon’s favorites. But I actually really love this final three. Bupsi is fun and exciting, Anton is a vocal powerhouse, and Max Stone is THE dark horse in this competition. Seriously, it feels like this guy just came out of nowhere, and that’s got me really interested in watching his journey progress, since he went from being a guy Simon called out for having no personality, to being someone Simon now views as a potential star. This is going to be an interesting category this year.
And now, we move on to Cheryl and the Groups, who received help from guest mentor Jess Glynne. The three acts Cheryl is taking with her to live shows are…
REGGIE N BOLLIE
Eliminated: New King Order, BEKLN Mile, Melody Stone
Thoughts: I was initially disappointed in the final 24 this year, because it seemed obvious we wouldn’t have a novelty act this year in the live shows, and that often means a boring season ahead. But with Reggie n Bollie advancing to the live shows, it looks like we’ll have our novelty act after all. They’re a lot of fun, but there was really no reason for them to advance over any of the other three groups that went home other than that they’re different from other acts in the category. And hey, maybe that’s enough. Realistically, I can’t think of a scenario where New King Order, BEKLN Mile, or Melody Stone wouldn’t have been one of the first three acts eliminated from the competition anyway, so maybe she made the right call.
Next up, we move on to Nick and the Boys, who received help from guest mentor Mark Ronson. The three acts Nick is taking with him to live shows are…
SEANN MILEY MOORE
Eliminated: Ben Clark, Simon Lynch, Josh Daniel
Thoughts: I’m sad to see Ben, Simon and Josh go, but I actually think Nick made the right calls here. Simon and Josh weren’t ready, in my opinion, and I couldn’t see Ben lasting past Top 10. Great singer, but the charisma isn’t really there, for me. Still, I hope these three come back next year, because there isn’t a single singer in this category that would have been a bad choice for the live shows, honestly. They all deserved to go through. It’s just that not all of them could.
Lastly, we have Rita and the girls. The three acts Rita is taking with her to the live shows are…
Eliminated: Monica Michael, Havva Rebke, Chloe Paige
Thoughts: I’m a bit annoyed that Kiera got through over Monica, but then, I’ve never really felt much of a connection to Kiera. There’s just a strange disconnect with her that prevents me from really feeling anything when she sings. That said, she’s got a great voice, and there’s a lot Rita could do with her in the competition, so I get why she made it through. This is still one of the strongest categories overall, although I’m still not sure if Nick or Rita has the winner.
To recap, the final 12 are…
Over 25s (mentored by Simon Cowell)
Groups (mentored by Cheryl Fernandez-Versini)
Reggie n Bollie
Boys (mentored by Nick Grimshaw)
Seann Miley Moore
Girls (mentored by Rita Ora)
