Cyrus Villanueva Wins The X Factor Australia 2015 (VIDEO)
The X Factor Australia 2015 winner has been revealed on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, following one of the more competitive grand finals in recent memory.
Yes, the winner was revealed and it was Cyrus Villanueva! The Filipino singer from Wollongong, New South Wales won out over Jess & Matt and Louise Adams in a grand final that, while not exactly surprising, still represented a season that, overall, was pretty damn strong. Seriously, this was one of the best top threes The X Factor Australia has ever had, and while I was personally rooting for Guy Sebastian’s groups to finish higher, I have nothing against Jess & Matt coming in third place. Interestingly enough, after a season of bickering and in-fighting, it all came down to this season’s two newest judges, James Blunt (the Over 25s) and Chris Isaak (the Boys), as it was Louise Adams vs. Cyrus Villanueva for the title. And it made sense that it would come down to these two, considering they were among the most consistent performers of the entire season. That said, I think it was obvious to just about everyone who the winner would be, particularly following the show-stopping, show-closing performance of Labrinth’s “Jealous” that Cyrus delivered last night.
Congratulations to Cyrus and to all the finalists! Watch the winner’s announcement video below:
Ultimately, I feel like this was the right result. Cyrus has been a consummate pro throughout the season, and he could be the breakout star this show has been looking for, especially since he’s arguably more contemporary than any winner they’ve had outside of Marlisa and maybe Reece Mastin. All in all, I’m happy for Cyrus, and I hope he has a truly successful career ahead of him. The man deserved this.
