‘The Voice’ Star Chris Jamison Splits With Republic Records, Releases New Song (VIDEO)
It’s a good news/bad news situation for one of the best-known Team Adam veterans from The Voice: Chris Jamison has split with Republic Records, but he’s released a brand new, original song in the trade-off!
The track, titled “The New Me”, details Jamison’s experiences over the past year, as the singer notes that he’s been “fortunate to receive control back” over his music. From Jamison’s official Facebook:
“As the new year begins, I’ve been fortunate to receive control back over my music,” Jamison writes. “I wrote this song about my experiences through the past year and wanted to share it with you. I hope this song means as much to you as it means to me. I am so grateful for your continued support!!!”
You can list to the new track below. It’s a damn good song, in my opinion. Seriously, I could hear this on the radio today. Watch:
I’m not really sure what went wrong with Republic Records other than the vague notion that Jamison wasn’t given control over his music, which seems strange considering he’s multi-talented and seems to have a good idea of how to make his own compelling music. It feels like apart of a larger issue where Republic doesn’t seem to know what to do with any of these Voice finalists. It’s strange, honestly, since it doesn’t look like it should be this complicated. Just sign the guy and let him write songs, then put out an album. And if it works, great. And if not, let him go. But at least try, you know?
Anyway, what did you think of Chris Jamison’s song, “The New Me”? Sound off in the comments!
