‘The Vampire Diaries’ To End After Season 8, Says Ian Somerhalder
It’s looking like the end for The Vampire Diaries. According to star Ian Somerhalder, the popular series will be coming to an end after Season 8.
However, it’s important to note that nothing has been officially announced just yet by The CW. Right now, it’s all coming from Somerhalder. In an interview at WalkerStalkerCon in Nashville on Sunday, Somerhalder stated, “We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice.”
This comes only days after co-star Kat Graham announced she’d only stick around for one more season, tops.
“Season 8 will be my last season,” Graham told Us Weekly. “I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me. … The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go, because we are a family.”
However, while Graham might not be sticking around, even if the show ultimately goes beyond an eighth season, the actress promised the cast would “blow it out” when it comes time for Season 8 to premiere.
So while we don’t know what’s in store for The Vampire Diaries beyond the eighth season that The CW has already renewed it for, it seems we can at least expect good things, if the interviews from the cast are any indication. Here’s hoping.
