‘The Meredith Vieira Show’ Canceled
Meredith Vieira got some of the worst holiday news you can receive in the entertainment industry: her show has been canned.
The Meredith Vieira Show has been canceled by NBC Universal, as its current second season will be its last. The show struggled to find an audience, resulting in low ratings that led to its cancellation.
“I am so sorry to see our show come to an end after this season, but I am also incredibly proud of the work our staff has done and forever grateful to our supportive viewers,” Vieira said in a statement. “We promise to spend our final weeks producing the best broadcast we know how. And have a blast doing so!”
However, Vieira isn’t exactly heading to the unemployment line. Vieira will be participating in NBC’s coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Still, I’m sure it’s sad for Vieira to see her talk show come to an end, as it would be for just about anyone who finally gets his or her own show, only to see it flop in the ratings. She’s not really in any danger of not landing on her feet, but we wish Meredith all the best anyway. At the very least, this isn’t as sad as hearing about all those good shows TNT canceled last month. Blech.
