‘The Bachelorette’ Winner Jordan Rodgers And Family Shut Out By Brother Aaron Rodgers
One of the bigger arcs on The Bachelorette last season was how eventual winner Jordan Rodgers was completely estranged from his brother, pro football player Aaron Rodgers. However, a recent report reveals that the estrangement within the Rodgers family is far worse than it was ever depicted as being on TV.
In a story by Bleacher Report, a source reveals that Aaron Rodgers “hasn’t spoken to his family in two years” and even skipped the funeral of his grandfather — “the same grandfather he once called before every game.” All just to avoid interacting with his family members.
“Immediate family members don’t even have his cellphone number,” the source stated, adding that when Rodgers’s parents sent him Christmas presents last year, they were mailed back by February.
In one of the biggest indications of the divide between the family members, it turns out that for Rodgers’s father to watch his son play live, he has to purchase tickets just like anyone else.
The working theory for why Rodgers is estranged is that, for whatever reason, the family doesn’t like his girlfriend, actress Olivia Munn. At least, that’s according to details from sources for Us Weekly (video below). It’s hard to really know, one way or the other, just what’s causing all this strain. For his part, Jordan stated, during The Bachelorette, that he still loves his brother, and that their estrangement simply comes from the different approaches they’ve taken to life, with Aaron choosing to distance himself from their parents, while Jordan opted to remain close. But it seems clear that the rift goes deeper than the estrangement that can often come with fame.
The source for Bleacher Report has his own theory about Rodgers that basically boils down to the Green Bay Packers quarterback being a primadonna.
“He’s a f***ing head case. He knows he’s doing the wrong thing, and he’s so arrogant and prideful that he thinks he can separate his personal life from his professional life, even though all of us know that’s impossible. You can’t do that,” the source said. “When you’re talking about real situations that aren’t all of a sudden circumstantial and you f*** over good people, people you’re supposed to love, it’s a sh***y thing to do and you’re going to get humbled.”
Whatever the reason for the Rodgers family estrangement, it seems like the gap is only widening with time. I don’t know what happened to cause Aaron to have such a vehement reaction to interacting with his family again, but I wonder if he might not end up regretting all the missed funerals, birthdays and holidays some day. Here’s hoping that the problems between Aaron and his family can be resolved.
