‘The Bachelorette’ Ali Fedotowsky Disappointed in New Season of ‘The Bachelor’
The Bachelor is back for season 21 with Nick Viall in the lead role. But former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky isn’t impressed.
Ali took to her blog after the most recent episode to voice her opinion on how disappointed she was in the latest season, particularly in how Nick’s women are handling themselves — and allowing themselves to be handled, as contestant Corrine had Nick put his hands on her bare breasts for a photoshoot.
“I was a bit shocked by how some of the girls were behaving (although I probably shouldn’t have been),” Ali wrote. “Overall, I am pretty disappointed with how some of the girls are handling themselves.”
She would go on to single out particular contestants in her recap.
“Brittany asked Nick whose boobs were better — hers or Corrine’s. Corrine got naked on her first date. And Lacey said, ‘What if I had taken my shirt off — would I have gotten the rose?’ I know she was trying to make a point suggesting that’s what Nick wants (and I think Lacey is very sweet). But in general, there is just too much focus on sexuality this season already.”
Ali was even disappointed in the humorous bit over the end credits, in which Alexis and Nick share cupcakes to celebrate the birthday of her breast implants.
“Even the boob birthday thing at the end. It was funny, and I can appreciate humor, but again, it seems like too much for it only being the second episode. As a mom, I sat there and watched the showing, thinking, ‘I never want my daughter to think she has to behave this way to find a good man.’ I’m not trying to put the girls down by calling them out on this either. It just makes me sad, I guess. I hope they all know they are better than this.”
All in all, I don’t disagree with Ali, although different contestants respond to the pressure of the competition differently each season. There are always people who are there to win just because they view The Bachelor as a prize to be win, whereas some others are just there to have fun, or to be on TV. You can usually count the amount of people who are serious about finding love each season on one hand. Of course, Ali knows better than anybody that contestants like that are the ones who tend to end up being cast as The Bachelorette each year. So I’m sure the fame seekers will be sent on their way soon enough, while the more sincere finalists start to get a bigger share of the screen time as the season rolls on.
