‘The Bachelor’ Getting SnapChat-Exclusive After Show, For Some Reason

The Bachelor is a popular show for superfans and hatewatchers alike, so it only makes sense that the 2017 season gets its own after show. However, the after show is going to be on SnapChat, for some reason.

Watch Party: The Bachelor will launch on Snapchat Discover on Tuesday, January 3, just one day after the season premiere of The Bachelor 2017, which will feature Nick Viall giving this whole “reality TV romance” a fourth try, after going home alone on two separate seasons of The Bachelorette, and one season of Bachelor In Paradise. Watch Party: The Bachelor will feature 10 episodes and one Live Story every Tuesday morning. These “episodes”, however, will only be available on SnapChat for 24 hours. So yeah…not much different from the rest of the content you might find on the app.

As with similar Bachelor after shows like last year’s Bachelor Live, or this summer’s After Paradise, Watch Party: The Bachelor will feature a rotating panel of celebrity guests, comedians and fans to offer their thoughts on that week’s episode. Naturally, the show will also include clips from that week’s Bachelor episode, which the press release states will allow Snapchat viewers to “watch along with the cast as they hang out, eat snacks, crack jokes and hilariously react to the crazy/wild/romantic story lines that are sure to unfold this season on The Bachelor.”

It sounded a bit weird to me at first, if only because I’m not sure there’s much point to an after show that takes place the next morning. But regardless, this is at least something different for The Bachelor, and it could open up the door for more interactivity with the fanbase. Hopefully, Chris Harrison is involved this time, because it was a damn shame that he got shut out of hosting After Paradise for no good reason, this past summer.

Anyway, you can check out the new season of The Bachelor when it returns Monday, January 2 on ABC. And you can see Watch Party: The Bachelor when it debuts on Snapchat Discover the next day.
