Tesla Model S Spontaneously Catches Fire During Test Drive
A Tesla Model S 90D spontaneously caught fire during a test drive in Biarritz, France as part of the “Electric Road Trip” promo tour for the summer.
The incident is still under investigation and the cause of fire unknown.
… the vehicle suddenly made a loud noise and sent a visual alert on the dashboard stating that there was a problem with “charging”. The Tesla employee giving the test drive made the driver park the car on the side of the road and all three (the driver, the Tesla employee and another passenger) exited the vehicle. The Tesla Model S caught on fire only a moment later, according to witnesses.
Thankfully everyone were able to safely exit but the car was completely destroyed. It was a similar result when a Model S caught fire while Supercharging in Norway.
