Tesla Model S Burned To A Crisp While Charging At Supercharger (PHOTOS)
A Tesla Model S caught fire and burned down at a Supercharger station in Norway on New Year’s Day.
Norway’s state news agency NRK reports that no one was injured. It said that the owner left the Tesla to charge and left. Soon afterwards, it started burning and the car was consumed.
Firefighters could not use water for the burning lithium batteries, which is why they let the car burn. They had to use a special chemical foam to ultimately extinguish the fire.
According to the elecrek blog, this is the first time a Tesla Model S caught fire while at a Supercharger.
Tesla has released a statement saying:
Nobody was harmed. We are undergoing a full investigation and will share our findings as soon as possible.
Be safe out there Tesla owners!
