TBS Cancels ‘Ground Floor’

The floor has bottomed out for Ground Floor.

TBS has canceled the comedy from Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Cougar Town) after two seasons. Over the course of this past season, TBS allowed the actors to look for positions in new pilots for next season, pretty much signalling the end of the show. Suddenly, Lawrence goes from having two shows on TBS to having no shows at all on the network, since this is also the final season for Cougar Town.

Of course, it’s not as if Lawrence doesn’t have a soft place to fall. Lawrence has Undateable on NBC, which is entering its second season in March after the first did surprisingly well in its summer slot. The producer also has the upcoming Rush Hour pilot on CBS, a show that could have a solid shot at landing a slot on the CBS schedule for the 2015-2016 broadcast season. So while this cancellation isn’t exactly good news for Bill Lawrence, it’s not the end of the world for him, or for certain members of the cast. Skylar Astin is set to star in Pitch Perfect 2 later this spring, while Briga Heelan can likely return to Undateable, provided the show is renewed for a third season. So it’s unlikely this is the last we’ll see or hear of the people involved with Ground Floor, although it’s still a bit sad to see it go.
