Syfy Cancels ‘Helix’
Syfy is trimming its original drama lineup: the network has canceled Helix after two seasons.
Helix, starring Billy Campbell (who’s slowly becoming the king of canceled series), centered on a CDC pathologist and his ex-wife as they head to the Arctic to investigate the outbreak of a mysterious illness. The second season finale, which aired earlier this month, scored a series low 440,000 viewers, well below its already dismal 563,000 viewer average.
Ultimately, it’s a major disappointment for Syfy, considering this is a show that set Live+3 DVR records in its first year, growing its numbers from 1.8 million to 2.8 million. The show was also a record-setter in the coveted adults 18-49 and the less-prized-but-still-not-too-shabby 25-54 demographics. However, the show basically plummeted in the ratings in Season 2, as evidenced by Syfy’s decision to cancel it.
So what do you think? Are you going to miss Helix, or was it time for Helix to go? Sound off in the comments!
