Stephen Colbert To Guest Star on ‘The Mindy Project’

Stephen Colbert doesn’t begin his run as host of the Late Show on CBS until September, which means he has a lot of free time right now. So why not do a sitcom in the interim?

Colbert will guest star in an upcoming episode of The Mindy Project, and while details are scarce on the length of his guest-starring role (single episode or multi-episode arc), Colbert fans are already frothing with anticipation. Hell, series creator/star Mindy Kaling damn near broke Twitter when she tweeted a picture of herself alongside a bearded Colbert with the caption: “Coming soon to #themindyproject: Father Michael O’Donnell.”

So it appears Colbert is headed to church (maybe Hozier can bum a ride?).

A specific date for Colbert’s episode has yet to be revealed, but it’s expected to air later this spring, as Colbert continues preparations to take over for David Letterman in the 11:35pm time slot on CBS this fall. I haven’t been keeping up with The Mindy Project at all recently, but Colbert honestly just might be enough to make me want to get caught up. I’d follow that man into the mouth of Hell. Seriously, I’d follow him to C-SPAN if it came to it. Go get’em, Stephen!
