Stay-At-Home Dad Wows Judges With ‘Jolene’ Cover on America’s Got Talent 10 (VIDEO)
Benton Blount wowed the judges with his cover of “Jolene” on America’s Got Talent 10!
This is an impressively smoky rendition of the song, as it takes on the quality of a dirge. It’s much darker than the original, and haunting in a way that evokes a lonely singer in the world’s loneliest country bar. I loved it, although I think there are better singers this season. I don’t mean that as a knock on Benton though, because the dude IS talented.

Judges: Howard was surprised by the audition, but he loved it. Heidi says his singing voice is rough around the edges, and she likes it. Marlon says if Benton’s version was on the radio, he’d buy it. Mel B liked it at first, but found herself wondering, by the end of it, if this would be enough to get him through. Howie believes so, saying Benton performed at exactly the high level he needed to, praising him for his considerable talent. However, once Benton heads backstage, Howie frets over the number of quality musical acts remaining in the competition.
Final Result: Benton Blount advanced to Radio City Music Hall!
