‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ TV Spot Hints at Major Plot Reveal (VIDEO)
Star Wars: The Force Awakens releases in a little over a month, which means the TV spots are primed to start rolling in. This new TV spot for Episode VII, however, shows us a lot more than we were expecting to get.
In addition to some new, action-packed footage, we also get a voiceover from Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o), who hints at a potentially huge spoiler. Well, it’s more the combination of the voiceover and the editing, as Maz declares, “I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people. I see your eyes. I know your eyes,” all while we cut from Rey (Daisy Ridley) to Han Solo (Harrison Ford). Granted, we do cut to other people within that sequence and, after all, we have no idea who Maz Kanata is speaking to for certain anyway. The assumption is that it’s Rey, since she’s the only one we’ve ever heard Maz Kanata speaking to in these preview clips so far (with Maz, in the second trailer, asking who Rey is, and Rey responding, “I’m no one”). But that’s by no means certain. And even if Maz is speaking to Rey, we don’t know that she’s necessarily implying Rey is Han’s daughter. Anyway, enough rambling. Watch the awesome TV spot below:
