Spice Girls Pull Out of The X Factor UK 2016 Finale

Three members of the Spice Girls — Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Emma Bunton — were scheduled to be part of a performance alongside group finalists 5 After Midnight in this weekend’s finale for The X Factor UK 2016. However, that performance is now off-the-table.

The performance was set to feature 5 After Midnight teaming with the trio for a duet of the Spice Girls hit “Say You’ll Be There”, but the performance had to be canceled at the last minuted due to scheduling conflicts.

A source for The Sun claims, “The girls were very keen to make it happen and negotiations went on throughout the week. But at the end of the day they couldn’t make the schedules work. Mel B was in town for the filming of Lip Sync Battle, but she has to get to New York to start rehearsals for Chicago on Broadway.”

The source goes on to add, “They did everything they could to make the schedules work at the end of the day but it just couldn’t happen.

With the Spice Girls out, this begs the question of just who will be performing alongside Louis Walsh’s sole remaining act.

However, it turns out the show didn’t need to look too hard to find a replacement.

Replacing the Spice Girls as 5 After Midnight’s finale duet partners will likely be Clean Bandit and X Factor UK 2015 winner Louisa Johnson, both of whom were scheduled to be on the finale anyway. They will join other superstar duets such as Matt Terry and judge Nicole Scherzinger, and Saara Aalto performing with The X Factor Australia 2016 judge Adam Lambert.
