Sophie Turner from ‘Game of Thrones’ cast as Jean Grey in ‘X-Men Apocalypse’

Sophie Turner who plays Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones has been cast to play Jean Grey in the movie X-Men: Apocalypse.

Alexandra Shipp has been cast as Storm (taking over from Halle Berry). Tye Sheridan is Cyclops (taking over from James Marsden). Famke Janssen played the original Jean Grey.

I am beyond excited.

I love Sophie Turner so much. She is going to be a superstar after this.

Bryan Singer made the casting announcement on Twitter Thursday night:

Alexandra Shipp played Aaliyah in the Lifetime movie after Zendaya quit the project. Tye Sheridan appeared on three episodes of Last Man Standing with Tim Allen on CBS. He has appeared in a several films including The Tree of Life and Mud.

X-Men: Apocalypse is directed by Bryan Singer, scheduled for a May 2016 release. It is currently in pre-production. Principal photography will start in April 2015 in Montreal, Canada.

The films in the “X-Men Shared Universe” of films are: Deadpool (2016), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), Gambit (2016) and an untitled Wolverine sequel (2017). The X-Men franchise for films is produced by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment.
