‘Smash’ Star Jeremy Jordan Joins ‘Supergirl’
Jeremy Jordan is headed to the DC Universe.
Smash alum Jeremy Jordan is joining the cast of the upcoming CBS series Supergirl. Jordan will play the role of Winslow “Winn” Schott, a “superstar IT whiz” who works with Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) at CatCo.
The character shares a name with the DC villain known as Toyman, a crook who commits crimes using toys (because why the hell not?). However, it’s uncertain if he will become Toyman at some point, or if this is an entirely new interpretation of the Winn Schott character. Either way, Jordan is an immensely talented actor, and the Smash fan in me is absolutely thrilled. From his Tony nominated role in Newsies to his most recent big screen role opposite Anna Kendrick in the film adaptation of The Last 5 Years, from the brilliant Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown (seriously, Parade is AMAZING).
Jordan joins a cast that includes Necessary Roughness star Mehcad Brooks, Grey’s Anatomy vet Chyler Leigh, Ally McBeal alum Calista Flockhart, Nashville‘s star Laura Benanti, and DC Universe veterans Dean Cain and Helen Slater, who’ve previously played Superman and Supergirl, respectively. In short, it’s a pretty stacked cast, so while I’m not all that optimistic, considering it’s looking like this could end up being just another rote CBS procedural, the talent they’re getting for this is building my faith.
But what do you think? Is Supergirl shaping up to be worth the watch? Sound off in the comments!
