Sheamus Cashes In on Roman Reigns, Wins WWE Championship at Survivor Series (VIDEO)
Well, that 16-man tournament to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion certainly turned out to be kind of a waste. But then, I imagine that’s the point of the story.
Yes, after defeating Alberto Del Rio and best friend Dean Ambrose at Survivor Series 2015 to become WWE champion for the first time, Roman Reigns found himself victim to a Money in the Bank cash-in, as Sheamus took advantage of Roman’s weakened state. Two Brogue Kicks later, and Sheamus was a four-time world champion, leaving Roman Reigns stunned in a carpet of his own celebration confetti. It was a moment that I would argue was shocking, but for the wrong reasons. Of all the interesting creative directions WWE could have taken last night (Reigns turning heel, Ambrose turning heel, Ambrose winning the title, Kevin Owens shocking the world and winning the tournament), Sheamus cashing in his Money In the Bank contract on Reigns was basically the worst case scenario. Personally, I love Sheamus as a worker, but find him boring as sin as a character. Perhaps this title reign and alliance with Triple H will freshen him up, but I don’t know that it’s any better of a direction than just having Reigns win would have been.
But what do you think about how Survivor Series ended last night? Sound off in the comments!
