Shane McMahon Returns to WWE, Will Face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 32

We’re only an hour into Monday Night Raw, but we’ve already got a MAJOR match set for Wrestlemania 32: Shane McMahon will face The Undertaker inside Hell In a Cell!

It all started when Stephanie McMahon came out to accept the Vince McMahon Sr. Legacy of Excellence Award from her father, Vince McMahon. Shane returned to the show for the first time in seven years, and demanded control of the company, claiming that Stephanie and Triple H are running the company into the ground. Shane would further state that he never gave up his “place in line” as heir to the company. Naturally, Vince took issue with family business being made public, but more than that: it turns out Shane has something on Vince that could spell the end for the CEO if it ever came to light. So Vince set a challenge for his son. If he can win a match at Wrestlemania, he’ll get control of the company; but if he loses, Shane must hand over whatever it is he has against Vince. The catch: his match at Wrestlemania is a Hell In a Cell match against The Undertaker.

I’m still in shock over this, honestly. Of all the options debated over the course of Wrestlemania season for The Undertaker’s opponent, I never would have believed it would be Shane McMahon. Hell, I’m not entirely convinced Shane won’t name a representative to fight in his place, because this match makes no real sense, otherwise. It makes Undertaker out to be the heel for doing Vince’s bidding. After all, it’s not as if, in storyline, Shane is a worthy enough challenge for The Undertaker to want to come back to fight. Wouldn’t it make more sense for Vince to say, “At Wrestlemania, I’ll pick a representative and you pick a representative, and the winner gets control of the company”? And then have Vince pick some guy, and have Shane be the one to pick The Undertaker as his representative? This whole thing is downright baffling to me.

With that said, it was an absolute blast to see Shane back again, and he seemed clearly moved by the reaction he got from the crowd. To say I’m intrigued by all this would be the understatement of the year.

But what do you think of Shane McMahon facing The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 32 inside Hell In a Cell? Sound off in the comments!
