Screen Actors Guild Awards 2017 Nominations: Who Is Up For The SAG?

The Screen Actors Guild Awards 2017 nominations are in, and we’ve got possibly the strongest lineup of performances in the film categories, and the biggest lineup of newcomers in the TV categories, as we’ve seen in some time.

In film, Manchester by the Sea earned four nominations, including Best Actor for Casey Affleck, Best Supporting Actress for Michelle Williams, Best Supporting Actor for Lucas Hedges, and Best Ensemble. Moonlight followed with three nominations, including Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali, Best Supporting Actress for Naomie Harris, and Best Ensemble. Fences matched this with nominations for Denzel Washington for Best Actor, Viola Davis for Best Supporting Actress, and Best Ensemble.

In television, we have a host of interesting newcomers, from Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown making the cut for The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, to Millie Bobby Brown earning her first nomination for Netflix’s Stranger Things. In fact, Netflix made a hell of a showing today, earning nods for Claire Foy for The Crown, Bryce Dallas Howard for Black Mirror, stunt performance nominations for Marvel’s Daredevil and Luke Cage, and the usual nominations for House of Cards stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, and Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba. Stranger Things and The Crown also made the cut for Best Ensemble, alongside the farewell season of Downton Abbey, and HBO’s double-threat of Game of Thrones and newcomer Westworld.
