Sandra Bullock Is PEOPLE’s World’s Most Beautiful Woman 2015
PEOPLE Magazine has declared Sandra Bullock the World’s Most Beautiful Woman for 2015. The 50-year-old Bullock (and oh my God, Sandra Bullock is 50) looks amazing on the cover, though she mostly kept the shoot, as well as the news of her nomination, a secret. “No, really. I just said, ‘That’s ridiculous,'” she said in an interview with PEOPLE. “I’ve told no one.”
With an upcoming role in the Despicable Me spinoff Minions, Bullock is far more focused on motherhood than beauty, as being a mom to her 5-year-old son Louis is what’s really important to her right now. But it’s more than that, as Bullock thinks real beauty is found in that quiet normalcy.
“Real beauty is quiet. Especially in this town, it’s just so hard not to say, ‘Oh, I need to look like that,'” she explains. “No, be a good person, be a good mom, do a good job with the lunch, let someone cut in front of you who looks like they’re in a bigger hurry. The people I find most beautiful are the ones who aren’t trying.”
Bullock inherits the World’s Most Beautiful Woman from last year’s honoree, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o. Come to think of it, a lot of the World’s Most Beautiful Women have been Oscar winners in recent years, as Gwyneth Paltrow was the 2013 honoree, while Julia Roberts earned the title in 2010 and 2006 (and also 2000…and 1991). Angelina Jolie was the 2006 honoree, while Nicole Kidman and Halle Berry went back-to-back in 2002 and 2003, respectively. So yeah, lots of Oscar royalty in the lineup, although music stars have also done well on the list. Beyoncé was the honoree in 2012, while American Idol star Jennifer Lopez was PEOPLE’s pick for 2011.
