Sam Smith Releases James Bond ‘Spectre’ Theme, ‘Writing’s On the Wall’ (AUDIO)
Recently, it was announced that Sam Smith would become the first male singer to perform a James Bond title theme since Tom Jones performed the title song to Thunderball back in 1965, as Smith will be doing the theme to the hotly-anticipated Spectre. But what could we expect from the song itself? Well, as it turns out, we’re getting a very classic-sounding Bond theme.
“Writing’s On the Wall” is an interesting song that grows on me the more I listen to it. It has the same “somber with a hint of the epic” style as Adele’s Oscar-winning “Skyfall,” so maybe Sam should keep his tux ready in case he finds himself nominated too. “This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honored to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song,” he said in a statement. “I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.” Spectre doesn’t hit theaters until November 6th, but you can listen to the full title song below:
