Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Picked An Unconventional Name for Their Daughter
Considering that Ryan and Blake are quickly becoming gender neutral names, it shouldn’t be that big of a surprise that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have given their daughter a name that defies the expectations of gender.
It’s a bit unconventional for a little girl to be given the name James, although it’s not entirely unheard of. Actress Jaime King used to go by James, creating for a confusing situation when I realized the actress I was so enamored with in Pearl Harbor had a dude’s name. Still, masculine names have become more prevalent among girls over the past twenty years or so. Names like Randy, Charlie, Taylor, Dakota, Casey, Skylar and Hayden. For the most part, they’re names that work no matter what parts you were born with. At the very least, girls with those names are getting a better deal out of it than poor Anne Rice, who was born Howard Allen Frances O’Brien, presumably because her parents really wanted a boy. As a James, Ryan and Blake’s daughter will be just fine.
All our best to Ryan and Blake and little baby James!
