Royal Princess Name Revealed: Say Hello to Charlotte Elizabeth Diana!
Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William proudly announced the name of their newborn baby daughter, and the name itself is a touching tribute to both of the Prince’s royal family members.
The little girl, born on Saturday, is named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
Charlotte is the feminine form of Charles, which is a nod to Prince William’s father, Prince Charles, while “Elizabeth” is a nod to Prince William’s grandmother, the current Queen of England. Meanwhile, the “Diana” part of the name shouldn’t be much of a surprise to anyone. It’s a nod to Prince William’s mother, the late Princess Diana, who tragically died in a car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997.
Thus, the little girl’s full title is Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is fourth in line to the throne after her grandfather, Prince Charles; her father, Prince William; and her brother, Prince George.
I absolutely love the name, and would go as far as to say it’s the prettiest name any royal has had in a seriously long time. But then, I’m a fan of hyperbole. Still, it’s only fitting that such a gorgeous baby would get a gorgeous name. The embedded tribute to the royal family in each of the three names is also genuinely touching.
But what do you think of the name? Sound off in the comments!
