Rosie O’Donnell leaving The View was ‘Doctor’s Orders’

Rosie O’Donnell is leaving The View next week and the controversial co-host explained this weekend that her doctor made her do it.

She told PEOPLE at the premiere of her documentary Rosie O’Donnell: A Heartfelt Standup at the Athena Film Festival in New York:

“My doctors were noticing that there was an uptick in my numbers since I started on the show. It got a little bit worse right before the holidays, and my doctor was kind of concerned, so when I went back after the holiday break, she said to me, ‘You know, the stress level is too much. I listen to my doctors when they say, ‘We don’t know why you’re living.'”

Rosie made the surprising announcement to the media on Friday that not only is she leaving The View again, she is currently separated from her wife Michelle Rounds:

“Rosie and her wife Michelle [Rounds] split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention… She is putting her personal health and family first.”

I wish Rosie well. She had a heart attack in 2012 and if she needs to take care of her body, I support her 100%. Will miss her on TV though.
